The Best Tips to Enhance Your Home’s Curb Appeal and Sell Your Home Fast

Sell Your Austin Home Fast With These Great Tips!

Has your home been on the market for a while with no real leads or potential buyers? Your landscaping may have something to do with it. Check out six tips for improving your home’s curb appeal and enhancing your landscape.

Get rid of brown lawn – One of the simplest ways to improve your home’s landscape is to get rid of the brown spots in your yard by applying sod. Sod is relatively inexpensive and easy to lay in your yard. The first step is clearing the dead grass and debris from your yard. The second step is to level the area. Next, roll out the sod (it will be purchased in small squares or rolls, depending on how much you need) into the cleared and leveled area. Water often to encourage growth. Adding the extra green will go a long way in improving the overall look of your lawn.

Spruce up your mulch – Mulched areas that are spotty or bare can make a home look unkempt and neglected. If you’re on a budget, it’s not necessary to completely re-mulch, but adding fresh mulch to sparse areas can improve the look of your landscaping easily. A couple bags of mulch is inexpensive and makes surrounding plants pop. As an added bonus, your home will have the freshly-mulched fragrance that outdoor fans love!

Trim and shape shrubs – Take some time to trim the shrubs around your home.? Cut off dead branches and give your plants some shape – it will make them look well maintained and help them blend in, allowing other areas of your home to shine (instead of? letting dead branches and unsightly, overgrown fauna to take center stage.) Deciduous trees and shrubs can be trimmed any time of year.

Add color – Nothing brightens the landscape of a home and adds valuable curb appeal than some gorgeous flowers. If you have landscaping in front of your home or a garden, plant a few extra blooming plants, especially before open houses. If you don’t have a formal landscaping area, plant a few colorful flowers in interesting looking pots to add brightness.

Maintain your irrigation – Many homeowners take pride in having a lovely lawn, and having a fully-functioning irrigation or watering system is a part of this. A watering system isn’t something many potential buyers think to check out while they are looking at a home, but taking the initiative to fix any problems before buyers find them can help you save time and hassle. Having a functioning irrigation or water system also helps you maintain the look of your lawn before you sell.

Power wash – Even the exterior of your home should be neat and clean to sell quickly. Rent a power washer from your local hardware store or equipment manufacturer or borrow one from a friend. Power wash your sidewalks, driveways and the exterior of your home, including your garage door, shutters and siding.

Add character to your front porch – Although your front porch, including your front door and entry way, is technically part of your home (rather than your landscaping), making a few small changes to this area can improve your curb appeal. Paint your front door a new color or touch up your existing color. Add some potted plants, wind chimes or doormats that pull the look together. Make sure to you don’t get too personal with knick-knacks – stick with eye-catching, elegant pieces to wow your potential buyers.
